Fire Station 4
2423 W. Irving
Located at Meridian and Irving, Station Four is the headquarters station for the Department's Heavy Rescue Team. Station Four has a complement of one engine, one squad the Heavy Rescue Vehicle, and Boat 4. Built and relocated in 2003, it currently has 15 personnel assigned over three shifts.

Located at Meridian and 33rd St. S., Station Twelve has a complement of one engine and one squad. Station Twelve is the first responder to the Southwest part of the City. Built and relocated in 2003, the station currently has 15 personnel assigned over three shifts.

Citizens' Fire Academy
Overview
The Wichita Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy is designed to increase understanding of fire and emergency medical operations and to promote citizen interaction with Wichita Fire Department firefighters. The program will enhance awareness of the department’s capabilities and limitations; develop realistic expectations of response times from point of dispatch; develop cooperative relationships between firefighters and the citizens of Wichita and encourage participations to become more aware of the dangers of fire and benefits of fire prevention.
Citizens' Fire Academy - Spring 2009
Requirements
Citizens must be at least 18 years of age and live in the City of Wichita. All applicants must submit to a background check and must sign a waiver releasing the City of Wichita of all liabilities while participating in the Academy. There is no charge to participants.
Class dates and location
The course is 10 weeks long, 3 hours per session, and will be held at the Wichita Fire Department Training Academy on Thursdays and a Saturday. Several sessions will be held at City Fire Stations. The classes will start on May 7th at 6:30 pm and run through 9:30 pm.
